Thursday, February 27, 2025, Multnomah County Judge Tom Ryan sentenced Tyrik Dawkins to a total of 35 years in prison.
The case involves the brutal rape and beating of a woman he met online. The State’s sentencing memo is attached and spells out the crime. Dawkins held the woman against her will in a motel room over the course of multiple days, September 16, 2021 to September 17, 2021.
A Multnomah County jury convicted Dawkins on the charges of Rape in the First Degree, Kidnapping in the First Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Strangulation and Stalking.
On the Rape in the First Degree count, Judge Ryan sentenced Dawkins to 25 years prison. That sentence will run consecutive to the 25 years in prison he is already serving as the result of a different rape that a jury in a different county convicted him in, a week before this case began.
The 25 year term on the Rape in the First Degree will not start until the other 25 years are over.
Next, the judge sentenced Dawkins on the Kidnapping in the First Degree charge to just over 10 years (121 months) prison that is also consecutive, so it wont start until both 25 year terms are served.
With this sentence, and his other sentence from a different county, Dawkins is expected to be behind bars for a total of 60 years.
Prosecutor Quinn Zemel said about the sentence: “This is an unusually violent case that justified an unusually severe sentence.”
