Lincoln went to Gettysburg to speak at the dedication of a National Cemetery for those killed during the horrific battle that raged there July 1- 3, 1863. Lincoln arrived in Gettysburg on November 18, 1863. That night he slept in the Willis House. The next day, November 19, Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address.
