The Wasco County Board of Commissioners met Wednesday morning in a somber meeting following the sudden and unexpected death of Commissioner Phil Brady. Both Chair Scott Hege and Commissioner Jeff Justesen gave heartfelt tributes to Brady, saying they considered not meeting so soon after his sudden passing, but has some time-sensitive items that had to be dealt with.
Commissioners took no action in naming someone to fill out Brady’s unexpired term, as they were in consultation with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office for the proper procedure in an unusual circumstance. What does this mean in light of an election that hasn’t yet been certified. We hope to have answers soon from Salem, and will let you know as soon as we do.
