We all have things in life we don’t want to do, but Shannon Wilson, of Plymouth, Massachusetts, apparently really, really didn’t want to go to court.
So much so that, according to ABC affiliate WCVB, Wilson allegedly faked her own death in an effort to avoid facing charges for drunk driving and shoplifting.
In the times that she did appear in court, prosecutors say that Wilson claimed that she was dying of cancer. She is also accused of forging a death certificate.
“She lied directly to numerous judges. She lied to counsel. She lied to her ex-fiancé,” says assistant district attorney Alexander Zane of Wilson. “This is somebody that is clearly a flight risk, that will do just about — she’ll do anything to get out of a charge, including faking her own death.”
For her part, Wilson’s lawyer maintains that it was her ex-boyfriend who faked her death.
We still think that faking your death to avoid going to the dentist might be worth it, though.
