A lottery player in North Carolina likely thought they were being cute by playing the numbers 0-0-0 in the Pick 3 drawing, but then those numbers came up! And then they were shocked to learn that nearly 5,000 others had the same idea.
Officials with the North Carolina Education Lottery say 4,917 winning tickets with the numbers 0-0-0 were sold, and they will all share the grand prize of $1.7 million. That works out to either $250 or $500 depending on whether they paid $1 or 50-cents for the ticket. The lottery says that combinations of three of the same numbers are actually the most popular sets of numbers played.
