With travel season close at hand, Hotels.com has released its latest list of the weirdest room service requests made by patrons.
The booking company surveyed nearly 500 establishments from all over the world and polled proprietors as to what their guests have been craving in the past year.
Topping the list, something called “diet water.” That’s probably water that has no calories, like, well, regular water?
“Melted ice cream” ranked second, followed by blowfish. Apparently, those guests didn’t know blowfish traditionally has to be prepared by an expert, because otherwise it’s fatally toxic.
“Boiled bottled water” was also requested last year, ranking fourth on the list. And rounding out the top five? A guest wanted the hotel to prepare a whole fish they’d brought with them.
That said, most people order ordinary stuff, with 40% of all room service orders taken by those hundreds of hotels being burgers — the most commonly requested in-room meal.
The poll also revealed that 30% of all travelers spend at least $125 per night on those orders.
Survey questions, methodology and results have not been verified or endorsed by ABC News or The Walt Disney Company.
