British ultra-marathoner William Goodge is taking his running to the extreme by completing 50 marathons across all 50 U.S. states in just 24 days — and raising money for cancer research along the way.
The incredible 1300-mile journey was inspired by William’s late mother, Amanda, whom he tragically lost to non-Hodgkin lymphoma nine years ago. He started running seriously at that time to work through his grief — and he turned his running into a fundraising mission. He has already raised over $30,000 for Stand Up To Cancer while inviting fellow runners and cancer survivors to join him for miles along his route.
After finishing his final marathon, William will have a spot in the Guinness World Records — but he says the true reward is connecting with others, spreading hope, and making his mom proud with every single step.
