While there’s no doubt a vacation can do wonders for your health, modern medicine doesn’t usually suggest them as a way to cure what ails you. Well, Sweden wants to change that.
According to The Mail, in an effort to get more people to visit the Scandinavian country, Visit Sweden is providing folks with a downloadable medical referral form to give to their doctors so then can prescribe them a restorative experience in the country. The experiences fall in three areas: nature, culture and social prescribing.
“Sweden’s unique way of life, rooted in balance and with easy access to both nature and culture, makes it an ideal place to reset your mind and body,” reads the Visit Sweden page. “Together with Swedish senior professor Yvonne Forsell, we’ve identified activities proven by science to help you feel better. That’s why you can now ask your doctor to prescribe Sweden.”
Of course, getting your doctor to agree, and your insurance to cover it, is a whole other story.
