As reported, there is a movement of people looking to try to curb their smartphone addiction by moving to its opposite: so-called dumb phones that offer fewer bells and whistles. However, a new company is combining two vices in one. It’s a disposable dumb phone that’s also a vape.
Swype Vape 30K Puffs Touch Screen Disposable allows one to keep the simpler features of your phone close at hand — text updates, social media pings and the like — via a Bluetooth connection to your actual phone.
Or as the ad copy reads, “With an impressive 30,000 puff capacity and an array of advanced features, the Swype 30K is designed to keep you connected and entertained while providing a premium vaping experience.”
It also comes in four flavors.
Incidentally, outlets like Business Insider and 404 Media reviewed the device and found that despite its quick viral fame — with people photoshopping images onto its screen — both outlets found the Chinese app you need to download to work the device “clumsy” and thus the device buggy. “It works more like a basic smartwatch from five years ago than a standalone device,” 404’s reviewer Samantha Cole noted.
So, will it help curb your smartphone addiction? Probably not. Will it curb your nicotine addiction? Also, no.
Cole concludes, however, “Being able to take a fat rip off a device that’s also tracking my steps and texts is pretty sick. If I wasn’t addicted to screens before, I am on my way now.”
