A workplace dispute over microwaved fish has ended with a plea deal in South Carolina.
Michael DeBiase, a detective with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge after allegedly pulling his service weapon on a fellow officer who had heated up fish in the office microwave, filling the station with a not-so-delightful smell. Under the plea deal, DeBiase avoided jail time but received 90 days of probation, a $350 fine, and must permanently give up his police certification, ending any future law enforcement career. He had originally faced a felony gun charge and was later fired after an internal investigation found multiple policy violations. (The Smoking Gun)
