This is probably not what it means to “make it rain.”
Asha Gilbert, of Houston, tells ABC station KTRK that she was performing a pole dance workout in her apartment when the pole suddenly came loose and hit a fire sprinkler, causing water damage to her living room and her downstairs neighbor’s unit.
“Immediately, I’m in shock because I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, this cannot be happening to me,'” Gilbert says.
The incident forced Gilbert to move to a different apartment, but luckily her neighbor was forgiving.
“I explained everything, and she was very, very cool and understanding, and I appreciated that,” Gilbert says.
While Gilbert says her pole dancing workout days are over for now, she hopes the incident will raise awareness for it as a fitness tool.
“You have to be very strong, a strong upper body, strong core to be able to do it, and I just wish people understood that it doesn’t just have to be sexualized,” Gilbert says. “It can be looked at as a workout and a great workout at that.”
