Scale delivery: Alligator shows up on South Carolina porch

An alligator may not be able to huff and puff and blow your house down like the Big Bad Wolf, but you still probably don’t want one showing up at your front door.

A South Carolina homeowner confirmed that is indeed the case after an alligator climbed up on their porch.

A Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control officer responded to the scene and, according to a Facebook post, quickly realized, “this was not a ‘grab a bag and go’ situation.”

“The alligator was significantly larger than what we are equipped to safely handle under our standard capture guidelines (and also clearly had no intention of following instructions of any kind),” the post reads.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Animal Control Officer contacted South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, who responded to the scene,” it continues. “Together, we were able to safely secure the alligator and relocate it back to a more appropriate setting. That setting was FAR away from front doors, welcome mats, and any future real estate ambitions.”

We’re guessing the homeowner does not hope to see that alligator later.
