Wherefore art meow Romeo?

In this version of Romeo and Juliet, it was the Montagues versus the Cat-ulets.

The Imperial Russian Ballet Company was performing its production of William Shakespeare’s famed tragedy while in Turkey when, according to Turkey’s T24, a cat wandered onto the stage.

In video posted by T24, you can see the cat start pawing and biting at the hair of a performer lying down on the ground — seemingly during the climactic ending scene of Rome and Juliet’s deaths — as the crowd erupts in applause and laughter.

The performers continued through the scene, and the cat was later brought out for its own curtain call.

We hope fair Verona has plenty of catnip.
