You won’t be able to follow your nose to find this skunk

The Wildwood Zoo in Marshfield, Wisconsin, has found itself in a bit of a stinky situation.

According to the city, one of the zoo’s skunks, named Violet, has escaped her enclosure.

While one would think you could just, to quote Toucan Sam, follow your nose in locating a skunk, the city notes that Violet has been descented.

“While she is unlikely to approach people, she may also choose not to flee immediately if encountered,” the city says. “Despite her familiarity with people, she remains an animal and should never be approached or handled.”

“Zoo staff have begun trapping operations and will continue search efforts for the foreseeable future,” the post continues. “We are asking members of the public to report any sightings of skunks that appear unusually calm or out of place.”

The city also says that Violet is up to date on her rabies shot and is “not considered a dangerous animal.”
