The Scottish pecker that won’t bugger off

In one part of Scotland, they’ve taken to covering their cars with tarps.

Why? A parakeet is wreaking havoc, according to BBC Radio Scotland.

Since February, residents of Lochardil, a suburb of Inverness, have had to ante up for window seals and windshield wipers thanks to a parakeet that won’t stop pecking and destroying the rubber parts of cars, causing expensive damage.

That’s pretty frustrating, as you can imagine, for several reasons. First, while wild parakeets do live in southeast England, they’re pretty uncommon in Scotland.

Second, they have no idea why the winged creature does it.

And if that weren’t enough to send you over the edge, the little bugger disappears for weeks at a time — but then comes back.

Experts believe the bird was probably someone’s pet and either escaped or was abandoned.
