At The Dalles City Council meeting Monday night it was mentioned that City Public Works Director Dave Anderson is retiring next Monday after 37 years with the city. Mayor Rich Mays couldn’t resist a tongue-in-cheek recounting of the many successful projects he spearheaded. Here’s one example:
“Mr. Dave Anderson, our Director of Public Works, who, being the modest man that he is, really didn’t want to make a big deal about his leaving the city. So, with that, he doesn’t want us to recognize his responsibility, for example, for working with multiple state and federal agencies and participants to increase the capacity, efficiency and resiliency of a critical piece of the municipal water supply. And of course I’m talking there about the Dog River Pipeline.”
And we’ll happily add our own best wishes to one of the nicest guys in the city.
