A lot of people dream of quitting their jobs and traveling the world, but what would it take for folks to actually do it?
A new survey conducted on behalf of Travelbinger, and reported by SWNS, asked that exact question and the amount may actually surprise you.
Of the 2,000 people surveyed, the average person would be willing to quit their job to travel if they had $287,731 in the bank, although that number decreases to $211,000 for Gen Z and increases to $335,000 for boomers.
But not everyone is willing to give it all up with so little money in the bank. In fact, 32% wouldn’t set off on their travels without having more than $500,000 saved up.
Of course, with more money, people are likely to make bigger travel plans, and the survey asked folks what they would do if they suddenly had a $1 million travel budget. Surprisingly, most people actually thought of others.
With a $1 million budget, 37% say they’d take family or friends on a dream vacation, followed by road-tripping across the U.S. or another country (24%) and visiting famous landmarks (21%). Meanwhile, 18% would use that money to tick off items on a travel bucket list, while 17% would splurge on luxury accommodations.
