There seem to be apps for everything these days, and now that includes hired guns.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new app, Protector, has just launched, offering on-demand security services with a ride thrown in, described by one person involved with the app as “Uber with guns.”
“With the click of a button, Protector users can schedule veteran and former law enforcement private security personnel to serve as personal protection when needed,” reads the description in Apple’s App store.
Protector’s services are currently only available in New York and Los Angeles, and the security doesn’t come cheap. A five-hour listing in Los Angeles, which is the minimum, is listed at $1,000, along with a membership fee of $129 a year, and that includes one guard and the ride. Car options include Escalades or similar, with users also having the option to choose what uniform their security personnel will wear.
And if that rate is too steep, there are sharing options in order to lessen the price tag, allowing users to split their security guard with as many as five people.
