Americans trust nurses, but not members of Congress, new survey says

Nurses are the most-trusted people in America, according to an annual Gallup poll. Three out of four agree they’re highly honest and ethical, according to the yearly survey rating 23 professions.

Grade-school teachers come in second, with 61% viewing them highly. Military officers, pharmacists and medical doctors also finish in the top tier.

Lobbyists, members of Congress and TV reporters rank as the least-trusted professions, with more than half of those surveyed saying low ethics are a hallmark of those professions.

Police officers, clergy and judges are somewhere in the middle, but still viewed more positively than negatively. Bankers, lawyers and business execs are ranked close by, though their negatives outweigh their positives.
