Survey shows 60% of Americans are kept up at night thinking of finances

With skyrocketing fuel prices and inflation at 40-year highs, it’s no surprise folks are worried about making ends meet. In fact, a new survey shows three in five Americans admit their finances wake them up at night.

The survey of 2,000 people, commissioned by the financial experts at Questis, also shows two in three respondents lie awake at night worrying that their financial status isn’t where they feel it should be.

The survey also notes 63% of those polled would never talk about their finances at the dinner table.

That said, the poll revealed that Americans would rather do just about anything other than think about their finances: 30% would rather watch a scary movie, 27% would rather speak in front of an audience, and 28% would rather spend two hours in traffic than analyze their bottom lines.

Incidentally, a recent Gallup poll noted 21% of Americans were worried about inflation and high gas prices. By comparison, in 2021, just 1% of Americans cited fuel or energy prices as a major concern, and just 2% cared about inflation in the beginning of last year.
