Next to death and taxes, bad co-workers are a fact of life. But just because they annoy the ever-loving snot out of you doesn’t mean you have to stoop below their level.
WOFL reports Jerome Ellis wanted to get even with his difficult co-worker after the two had an argument at their DeLand, Florida, Dollar General. When that co-worker left his soda unattended to go to the bathroom, Ellis decided to exact revenge by pouring bleach into the can.
But, the thing about bleach is it has a foul taste — so when the co-worker took a sip, they knew something was off and had a feeling Ellis was behind it.
Surveillance video showed Ellis not only pouring bleach into his soda, but also spitting in it. After Ellis completed the deed, he seemed to realize he was caught on security camera — so he tried to unplug the entire camera system.
Ellis also tried playing innocent when police spoke to him. He claimed he was walking around with cleaning solution “and spilled some in that general area” when he walked behind the counter — where his co-worker’s soda was sitting out in the open.
He came clean when police told him they had the surveillance footage. Ellis was arrested and charged with both tampering with evidence and poisoning food or water.
He was taken to the Volusia County Jail.
