Ward throws 3 TDs as Washington State beats Cal 28-9

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Cameron Ward threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns as Washington State beat California 28-9, despite Ward being intercepted twice in the end zone. Renard Bell caught eight passes for 115 yards and a touchdown for Washington State (4-1, 1-1 Pac-12), which played four of its first five games at home. Jack Plummer completed 23 of 33 passes for 273 yards for California (3-2, 1-1), which was coming off a big win over Arizona.

Nix threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, and No. 13 Oregon won its fourth straight game with a 45-27 victory over Stanford. The Ducks have won 22 straight games at Autzen Stadium. They have not dropped a game this season after the opener against Georgia. Stanford hasn’t won since its opener against Colgate. It was the Cardinal’s third straight game against an opponent in the AP Top 25. They also fell to USC and Washington.

Rising’s 3 TD passes lead No. 12 Utes past Beavers, 42-16

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Cameron Rising threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns and added 73 yards and a score on the ground to lead No. 12 Utah to a 42-16 victory over Oregon State. The Utes forced four turnovers to avenge their only Pac-12 loss from last season. Third-string quarterback Ben Gulbranson threw for 177 yards and two interceptions to lead the Beavers. Gulbranson played the final three quarters after starter Chance Nolan left with a neck strain. Oregon State suffered its second straight loss despite rolling up 417 yards and 21 first downs.

Chachere runs, passes Portland State past Northern Arizona

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Dante Chachere had 402 yards from scrimmage and accounted for all five Portland State touchdowns in the Vikings’ 35-28 victory over Northern Arizona. Chachere was 22-of-28 passing for 274 yards and he had 128 rushing yards on 12 carries. Chachere threw three touchdown passes, including a 66-yarder to Mataio Talalemotu, and his two touchdowns runs included a 72-yard scamper. The TD to Talalemotu early in the fourth quarter gave the Vikings a 35-13 lead. The Lumberjacks rallied on a 1-yard run by RJ Martinez and a 10-yard pass from Martinez to Stacy Chukwumezie before Portland State ran off the final four minutes to end the game.
