Plan your summer BBQ guest list accordingly: 56.8% of Americans consider a hot dog a sandwich

This might affect who you invite to your Fourth of July barbecue: nearly 57% of Americans consider a hot dog a sandwich.

The website OutdoorLiving.com polled thousands of Americans about their summer food likes and dislikes and about their possibly unpopular food opinions — like that one.

Evidently, far more baby boomers feel that way about hot dogs, compared to those in Generation Z.

That said, the survey also revealed 12.6% of those polled feel microwaved hot dogs beat grilled ones; 34.1% of respondents consider ketchup a fruit, and somehow, 52.6% of respondents say they put ketchup on their pizza.

What’s more, just over 15% admit they put the cheese below their burgers.

When it comes to grilling, the majority, 40.4% prefer their burgers done medium; 22% prefer medium rare; 16.6% say they want theirs well one, and 3.1% like their burgers rare. Might as well eat the meat right out of the package.

When it comes to another grilling staple, wings, 63.3% prefer boneless to bone-in, to boot.
