New survey says two in three Americans no longer see a gym as necessary to stay fit

For all we’ve heard about the “quarantine 15,” millions of Americans have been putting in the work at home, and staying fit despite not going to the gym.

In fact, a new survey says two in three Americans who exercise say they longer see a gym membership as necessary to hit their goals.

They’re getting so used to not schlepping to pump iron that 82% are finding it easier to work out from home — up from 72% in 2020.

The non-scientific poll of 2,000 people in the U.S. commissioned by Freeletics — which, it should be mentioned, offers at-home training — revealed 85% found working out at home gave them some time away from their locked down family members, even if they don’t leave their house.

Eighty-one percent of those polled say their at-home fitness regimens have allowed them to “reconnect with themselves” and have more confidence in themselves.

In fact, nearly one in five credit their sweat equity with a better sex life during the pandemic.

The top benefits of working out at home for the respondents included boosting their overall health, increasing their energy levels, and improving their mental health.
