They say when it rains, it pours — and that seems to be the case for Morgan Wallen. The country singer was dropped by WME, the booking agency confirmed to multiple outlets.
The news comes just days after TMZ published a video of Wallen hurling a racial slur. Although Wallen issued an apology for his language, the fallout has continued. In addition to being dropped by WME, on Wednesday, multiple radio companies, including iHeartMedia and Entercom, have removed the “Dangerous” artist from their music rotations.
Other repercussions for the 27-year-old include being suspended “indefinitely” by his record label, Nashville’s Big Loud label, which releases his music in conjunction with Republic Records and being barred from Academy of Country Music Awards.
CMT also announced it is “in the process of removing his appearances from all of our platforms.”
Even with all of the fallout, Wallen’s music sales have dramatically increased —by over 300 percent, as reported by Billboard. Just one day after the video surfaced, the “7 Summers” crooner sold a combined 22,500 copies of his album and songs compared to just 5,000 in the U.S. on February 3 — a 339 percent jump to be exact.
