It was a short meeting for The Dalles City Council last night, with just 3 presentations to councilors. One of those presentations was from the Mid-Columbia Community Action Council. Leslie Naramore talked about some of their goals and one of those was to expand shelter needs:
“This year, as I just mentioned, we’ve really been focused on stabilization over the last year, and I feel like we’re in a place now where we can start to think about expansion. And for us, that means shelter expansion. So, this year, the Hood River Shelter, when it opens, is going to be open year-round. And then this year, we’re also opening the Gloria Center Pallet Shelter seasonally. So, in the past, that’s only been open on an emergency basis, but this year we’re expecting it to open November 23rd and then be open through March-ish.”
Other presentations were made by The Next Door Inc and the University of Oregon’s Community Local News and Information Project.
