While goofing off with his family in a fast-flowing Italian stream, Patrick Mohr felt his 18-karat wedding ring slide off his finger and vanish downstream. The Mohr family was visiting from Ireland — and losing the ring certainly created some unwanted vacation drama.
Along the way, Patrick’s wife reached out to three young locals — Filippo, Nicola and Edoardo — who were inspired by the Lord of the Rings stories and vowed to find the ring. After days of scouring the river with kayaks and snorkeling gear, Nicola spotted a glint of gold in the river sand.
The three guys sent Patrick a text message to deliver the good news. They even took things a step further by hopping a flight to Ireland to deliver the ring personally — in full Hobbit costumes.
The Mohr family rewarded the conquering heroes with a tour of the local sites, a round of Guinness at the local pub, and a home cooked traditional Irish dinner. And let’s not forget the promises of a lifetime of friendship, thanks to this grand adventure.
