Deborah Davis has been teaching at Addison Community Schools in Michigan since 1995. She recently received a national “Amazing Teacher” award — which came with a generous $5000 cash prize.
Knowing the district was dealing with budget issues, Deborah stepped up and donated all the award money to the school. This gift will help keep middle and high school tutoring programs rolling — and also fund special enrichment trips.
While Deborah was proud to be singled out for her work in the classroom, she also realized the work also involved all the students she works with each day. She said, “I want to have the students be a recipient of this award, as well.”
