Doctors in China made a startling discovery after a 35-year-old man sought treatment for blood in his urine.
Scans revealed multiple sewing needles throughout his body, including one lodged inside his heart. According to a medical case report, the needle had pierced the protective sac around the heart and was moving with the heart’s left ventricle. Doctors believe the man likely inserted the needles himself over time, although neither he nor his family could explain how they got there.
Surgeons successfully removed the needle posing the greatest risk, and the patient recovered and was stable at a nine-month follow-up. Researchers say such cases are extremely rare, with only 34 similar heart-needle cases reported worldwide. (Gizmodo)
