Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs was part of a gathering of officials Tuesday who toured and lunched at Maryhill Museum and visited Maryhill Winery, Stonehenge, and the Gunkel Orchards fruit stand and packing operation at Maryhill.
The Secretary of State’s office is in charge of elections and Hobbs said this November’s midterm elections are facing threats including cyber attacks and misinformation spread by foreign nation states, a portion of the population that believe elections are fraudulent, and a national government trying to take over control of the process, which the Constitution reserves to the states.
“As Secretary of State of Washington State, and as a member of the National Association of Secretaries of State, both Republican and Democrat, we are unified to insure that states maintain the right to run their own elections in their own state.”
