It’s hard for it to be “on like Donkey Kong” if you’re stuck in a canal.
Such was the situation for a donkey in Arizona, which was saved by the Eloy Fire District.
“Eloy Firefighters were able to utilize ropes and vehicles to secure and rescue the donkey from the canal (at no time did personnel enter the water),” the department writes in a Facebook post. “Once safely on land, firefighters were able to calm and dry the donkey … A local livestock expert was contacted and retrieved the adventurous animal until an owner can be located.”
The post continues, “How did they donkey fall into the canal? The world may never know, but we will gladly take the happy ending.”
The case of the donkey in the canal might be an even greater mystery than why Donkey Kong is the name of a gorilla and not a donkey.
