Hood River Police get their 3rd DUII driver this week

On March 19th, 2026, an officer with specialized training in DUII-Controlled Substance impairment investigation stopped a vehicle for expired registration. Yep, you read that right, it’s the third time this last week an impaired driver got pulled over for expired registration.

The vehicle’s registration was so old that every police officer outside of the metro area would pull it over.

Based on our recent activity, the memo did not reach this particular driver about registering their vehicle if they’re going to be driving in Hood River. Or maybe the combination of fentanyl and meth just obscured their great judgment.

Either way, during the stop, the officer spotted multiple signs of impairment, and the driver eventually failed field sobriety tests. The driver was taken into custody, and during a search of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, a digital scale, methamphetamine, and remnants of fentanyl were found. There was also a large amount of cash, which makes you wonder why they couldn’t just pay the registration fee.

Oh, and let’s not forget the dreaded outstanding warrant the driver had out of Linn County.

The driver was taken into custody for possession and attempted delivery of methamphetamine, DUII controlled substance, and two counts of identity theft for safekeeping a complete stranger’s credit cards.

The moral of the story this past week is just pay your registration fees. It’ll make those pesky Hood River City Police Officers drive on by.
