Burger King listened to its customers and has transformed one of its core menu items, the Whopper.
For the first time in nearly 10 years, the fast-food chain says it has updated the recipe and packaging for the fan-favorite flame-grilled burger.
In an announcement Thursday, Burger King boasted “elevated” changes to the Whopper, including a premium bun, “freshly cut onions and tomatoes, crisp lettuce, tangy pickles and better tasting mayo.”
The “higher-quality” Whopper will also be served in a box, Burger King said, “to ensure it makes it to Guests exactly the way it left the kitchen.”
The Whopper is still made with more than a quarter-pound of beef and is free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, the fast-food giant said.
“Over the past several years, we’ve focused on strengthening our operations and modernizing our restaurants to build a more consistent foundation across the system,” Tom Curtis, president of Burger King U.S. & Canada, said in a statement. “With that work well underway, we’re now in a position to thoughtfully elevate our core menu.”
Burger King has welcomed direct customer feedback, including a new initiative that launched earlier this month where guests can call or text Curtis to share ideas and request improvements.
