Oregon’s top legal officer and four Democratic attorney generals from other states will gather for a town hall in Portland on Wednesday, the anniversary of their first lawsuit against the Trump administration.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez, Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison will join Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield at 6 p.m. at Portland’s Revolution Hall to discuss their efforts to challenge executive federal overreach.
The town hall is open to the public, but it has reached capacity. A livestream will be available on Youtube for those interested in watching virtually.
Since President Donald Trump took office a year ago, Oregon has sued his administration 53 times, often teaming up with other Democratic states to prevent federal funding cuts and to block new policies from disproportionately impacting the environment, immigrants and people seeking gender-affirming care.
By doing so, Oregon has kept about $4.6 billion meant for Oregon Health and Science University research, electric vehicle infrastructure, sexual health education programs and education programs supporting low-income and unhoused students.
Rayfield most recently held town hall meetings focused on federal oversight in Corvallis and Lake Oswego.
