This Netherlands hotel comes with a seal-y mattress

A hotel in the Netherlands has gotten a seal of approval. Sorry, that’s approval from a seal.

The Pier 7 inn, which, it should be noted, is specifically for humans, found an uninvited marine mammal in one of its rooms. The human occupant found the seal napping on the floor and reported it to hotel staff.

“We often get strange messages,” the local Zeeland Animal Welfare Foundation said in a statement obtained by ABC News. “But when we received a message tonight we couldn’t believe it at first.”

“Fortunately, our valued colleagues from [Marine Animals Rescue Team Netherlands RTZ] were quickly there to assist our ambulance workers,” the statement continued. “The RTZ employees have enough experience and put the seal, who had become quite grumpy due to his disturbed beauty sleep, in a seal basket and he was relocated to a safe, quieter place.”

As for how the seal found its way into the room, officials theorize that the person staying in the room accidentally left their door open, which leads directly to the beach.
