If you don’t want to get swiped left, wipe that frown from your face. That’s the takeaway from a Forbes Health survey that revealed negativity is the biggest dating “ick.”
Seventy percent of those polled said “negativity or bitterness” in a dating bio is their biggest turn off, followed closely by overly edited or filtered pictures (63%) and “too much emphasis on material possessions” (62%).
That said, show a little effort: 60% say a lacking profile or bio gets the big swipe left — the same percentage that said poor grammar and spelling will put them off.
So know your “you’re” from your “your” (or “yore”) and your “it’s” from your “its.”
The poll of 1,000 dating app users also revealed that you don’t have long to make a good first impression: The average time it takes a user to swipe right or left is nearly 2 1/2 minutes, but a quarter of those polled say they spend just 31 seconds to a minute, tops, to make up their minds.
Twelve percent decide in less than 30 seconds.
No pressure.
