With the July Fourth weekend coming up, a lot of folks will be packing up the car and heading out on the road. But while road trips are fun, they could be even more fun depending on what state you’re headed to.
WalletHub just came out with its list of the Best and Worst States for Summer Road Trips, comparing all 50 states on 32 key factors. The list compares things like cost and safety; available activities, including the number of national parks, zoos and amusement parks; and road conditions and accommodations.
So, where are you bound to have the best time on a road trip? That would be Texas, which scores a 58.59 out of 100 and lands in the top five for activities — but is at #39 for safety.
If activities are all you care about, California is the best road trip state. Louisiana, which ranks #4 overall, is tops for cost, and Maine, #9 overall, is tops for safety.
As for the worst state for a road trip, that would be Delaware, which ranks in the bottom 10 for both activities and cost, and is also pretty low for safety.
