Stanley deploying concert ticket-like limits to stop chaos around new “Chocolate Gold” tumbler

As of right now, Stanley tumblers are still all the rage — despite a send-up on SNL called “Big Dumb Cups” and myriad spoofs of the cup craze online.

To combat the scalping, shoplifting and overall mayhem caused by the cups, the company tasked another, Australia-based EQL, with handling the launch of Stanley’s new Chocolate Gold Quencher tumbler.

It’s the same cup, just in brown.

However, Stanley’s ad copy sounds like something out of Tiffany: The cup comes “beautifully packaged in an ornate chocolate box that features nostalgic stripes and gold detail” and boasts “a rich ganache powdercoat finish.”

Again, it’s a big, brown cup.

At any rate, for those bitten by the Quencher craze — or, for those capitalizing on it — the new company was called in to regulate its sale.

Interested parties have to send an email for the chance — just the chance — to purchase one, and orders are limited to one apiece.

“One of our priorities is to prevent bots and resellers from depleting stock meant for our genuine fans,” Stanley writes — just like how some music acts limit their concert ticket sales.

That said, you can still find the $50 coveted conveyances on eBay selling for as high as $347.
