When it comes to car shopping, most people pinch pennies when it comes to the sticker price, but such wasn’t the case for the recent sale of what’s now known as the most expensive car ever sold.
There were bids, but no dealer haggling when the hammer dropped at RM Sotheby‘s for a one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilée for a cool $10.7 million.
The legendary automaker decided to sell just one Profilée instead of putting the model into production, even though it had already sold out 500 “slots” for well-heeled gearheads to buy them, which sent the price of the handmade, 1,500 horsepower specimen into the stratosphere.
So while you may be stressing over the price of eggs or gas, consider the new owner of this one-of-a kind vehicle will be enjoying a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds and the bragging rights of having the last fully gas-powered 8.0-litre W-16 engine Bugatti in their collection.
