A Florida man is accused of taking “cutting the cord” a bit too literally.
Police in Jacksonville say 45-year-old Jack Depetris stole more than $58,000 worth of copper wiring from cell phone towers around the city. Investigators say he hit multiple tower sites, stripping out copper used in telecommunications equipment and causing thousands of dollars in damage. Authorities say the thefts disrupted service and took months to investigate before he was finally tracked down and arrested. He now faces several criminal charges, including burglary and grand theft.
