In Peterborough, England, the city council is working with wildlife experts to install green “Living Roofs” across 34 bus stops, turning the concrete shelter tops into lush mini-gardens. Each roof will be planted with a mix of 13 wildflower seeds and five varieties of perennial plants to give local bees, butterflies, and other pollinators essential feeding spots right in the middle of urban streets.
Built from recycled materials, these rooftop gardens not only look beautiful and soak up rainwater, but also provide an eco-friendly sanctuary where nature can thrive right above commuters’ heads.
