We often hear that “not all heroes wear capes.” It’s true… sometimes they wear a banana costume.
A Florida woman is being hailed as the “Banana Hero” after helping report a bizarre crash outside an Orlando bar. Stephanie Oropeza, still dressed in a banana costume after attending a Halloween party, called 911 when she witnessed a car plow through the outdoor dining area of The Moderne Bar around 4 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported, but the crash caused major damage, destroying tables, chairs and a custom fence. The restaurant posted video of the costumed good Samaritan online, and she quickly went viral as the “Banana Hero.”
Oropeza later connected with the restaurant, which thanked her with a free meal. She says she hopes the attention encourages others to step up and help when they see someone in need. Police are still investigating the crash. (WKMG-TV Orlando)
