MAN GIVES OLD BATTERY-POWERED TOY CARS A SECOND LIFE

You know those tiny, battery-powered toy cars and trucks that kids can drive around the driveway or yard? They’re called Power Wheels — and a guy in Ohio is using his handyman skills to fix these things up and donate them to local families.

What started as a small backyard project for Anthony Beck quickly grew into a big-time community mission after neighbors began dropping off dozens of broken-down toy cars. Anthony spends about four days and $50 restoring each ride, replacing old parts — and even building custom controls for children with mobility challenges.

So far, Anthony has fixed up and donated over a dozen Power Wheels, giving broken toys a second life and putting smiles on the faces of local kids.

“The hobby was kind of a good thing for, you know, just built-up anxiety or nervous energy or whatever,” Anthony said. “And to be able to do something that feels accomplished to me and help families is amazing.”
