DETECTIVE RACING TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY

Baltimore Police Detective Zachary Rutherford is a talented long distance runner who averages a six-minute mile. This Saturday, during the Baltimore Running Festival, Zachary will be putting his speed to the test for a great cause. His goal — as an official “Charity Chaser” — will be to overtake as many fellow runners as possible while running a marathon.

Zachary and other Charity Chasers will be starting at the very back of the pack, and he’ll earn two dollars for every runner he passes. All proceeds raised will go directly to local charities, including the Signal 13 Foundation, which provides financial grants and college scholarships to police families in need.

Not surprisingly, Zachary is excited to raise as much money as possible. “I’ll hunt them down,” he said. “Knowing that you are working towards a greater cause than yourself, it’s rewarding.”
