According to a new study, people with nerdy hobbies — like playing Dungeons & Dragons, reading sci-fi, or cosplaying — are more likely to practice non-monogamous relationships.
Researchers found that sci-fi fans were 83% more likely to be non-monogamous compared to average users, while video game fans were 80% more likely, and tabletop gamers were 65% more likely.
The researchers suggest that these hobbies and non-monogamous dating both require similar traits, including strong time management, clear boundary rules, open communication, and high emotional intelligence.
