Travelers should expect delays up to 20 minutes

Travelers should expect lane and ramp closures on Interstate 84 next week in The Dalles and between Arlington and Biggs Junction for pavement repairs and bridge maintenance. Pavement repairs are also planned on the Biggs-Rufus Highway in Biggs Junction.

Pavement repairs between Arlington and Biggs Junction

Crews will complete pavement repairs during two overnight work periods. Travelers should expect delays of less than 20 minutes.

Here is what travelers can expect:

  • Tuesday night, Sept. 15:
    • Work will begin at 5 p.m. and continue into the night.
    • Crews will start with an eastbound single-lane closure near Arlington at milepost 138 then move to other locations along I-84 as work is completed.
    • Work will take place between mileposts 138 and 151, with both eastbound and westbound single-lane closures expected.
  • Wednesday night, Sept. 16:
    • Work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.
    • Expect single-lane closures on the Biggs-Rufus Highway, which runs parallel to I-84 through Biggs Junction, for pavement repairs.
    • Drivers using I-84 Exit 104 to access businesses in the Biggs Junction area may also be affected.

Temporary pavement markings will be placed as needed during both nights of work. Crews plan to return the following week to complete permanent striping.

Bridge work in The Dalles

Travelers should expect delays of less than 20 minutes along with a lane and on-ramp closure on eastbound I-84 at Exit 83 in The Dalles while crews replace bridge deck seals.

Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 16-17.

Here is what travelers can expect:

  • The right lane will be closed through the work area.
  • The Exit 83 off-ramp will remain open.
  • The Exit 83 on-ramp to eastbound I-84 will be closed.

Please slow down, watch for crews and traffic control, and give workers plenty of space.

Where traffic is routed through or around a work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.
