The Columbia Gateway Urban Renewal Board met last night and voted to allow a 4-month extension to the Basalt Commons project.
The project has made significant progress since the last meeting, including completion of the financial package without needing a $3.3 million offer from Wasco County, obtaining a building permit from the City of The Dalles and a demolition permit to remove the old auto dealership on Third Street and lining up contractors and subcontractors.
Developer Mary Hanlon said that the project hoped to begin demolition in the next two weeks.
