Re-tail therapy: Bear visits Alaska mall

Apparently, bears will also do that thing they do in the woods in shopping malls.

Alaska’s KTUU reports that a bear entered the mall at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military facility, where it promptly stole a peach and then relieved itself on the floor.

Kory Godbout, a barber who works at the mall, witnessed the bear’s shopping spree.

“My coworker, who is cutting hair in front of me, she yelled, ‘Bear!’ And I looked up from my phone and the bear was walking into the barber shop right in front of me,” Godbout tells KTUU. “And we all ran into the break room and shut the door behind us.”

The bear then ambled into a nearby grocery store, and “a couple people were going big to try and scare him out,” Godbout says.

“Then he came back around to the barber shop again, but by that time, we were able to run back to the shop and then lock the door,” Godbout continues. “And then we were watching him from the window, and then, that’s when he decided to, you know, use the restroom in the hallway.”

The bear eventually left the building and was guided into the woods by Conservation Law Enforcement officers.

The bear is said to have gotten into the building by accidentally triggering the automatic doors. Maybe it had also just seen the Robin Sparkles episode of How I Met Your Mother.
