Runaway kangaroo captured in Kentucky

It’s a long way from Australia to Kentucky, and maybe Hunter was just a little homesick.

The displaced marsupial was seen skipping about the Gibson Bay area of Richmond, Kentucky, on Thursday, prompting state police to get involved, according to the Richmond Register.

While Americans tend to think of ‘roos as affable creatures with a cute pouch to protect their offspring, it’s important to remember they also have the potential to be dangerous.

Happily, the red kangaroo named Hunter was captured and returned to his owner without any folderol.

And just in case you’re wondering, it’s perfectly legal to keep a kangaroo as a pet in Kentucky, no permit needed. You do need permission, however, to bring one into the state.
