In Elmendorf, Texas, which is just outside San Antonio, the animals seem to be running wild. And we’re not talking cows and horses, either.
Last week, an officer was out driving when he spotted a llama in the road. The road had to be closed for about an hour while they wrangled the camel-cousin, named Captain, and returned him to his owner.
Posting the news on their Facebook page, however, left the police department feeling a bit self-conscious: You see, it was only a day after they’d been chasing a runaway kangaroo who’d been hopping around town.
Acknowledging the odd turn of events, officers quipped that the llama had just seen the Facebook post about the kangaroo and wanted his turn in the spotlight.
